Essential Gear Check List

- Lace-up walking boots with ankle support and treaded soles. Walking shoes, sandshoes and similar are not acceptable. Boots must be worn.
- Polar fleece jacket (preferred) or thick woollen jumper
- Light jumper (warm)
- Beanie or balaclava
- Gloves or mittens
- Waterproof over-pants – nylon, PVC or Gore-tex
- Long gaiters (just below the knee)
- Shorts and/or light cotton trousers for walking in
- Polypropylene or wool thermal underwear – long sleeved top and long johns. Two sets preferred. Essential summer and winter.
- Warm long pants – evening hut wear
- Shirts / t-shirts – 2 recommended
- Socks – 4 pairs, bushwalking socks recommended
- Underwear
- Lightweight hut footwear
- Sun hat and sunscreen
- Towel or body chamois – light and quick to dry
- Water bottle – 1 litre
- Plastic mug – for tea and coffee on the track.
